March is the month of changes. New weather, new vibe, new habits. In order for us to make space for all of the positive, healthy changes we want to make, it is important to get rid of the old habits, baggage, and negative self talk that no longer serve our well-being. Think of it like… spring cleaning. Take inventory of things in your life (these could be physical or mental) that are holding you back from being your most authentic self.
Are there lingering habits that you still hold onto? If so, what are some baby steps you can take this month to let those habits go once and for all? By clearing that space, it is easier to make room for healthier habits to integrate. Other ways we can detox include cleaning out junk in our physical space. Take a moment and look in your closet. Are there clothes in there you haven’t worn in years? It may be time to donate! Other spaces that can get cluttered easily are bathroom and kitchen drawers, under the bed, and expired food in the pantry and fridge. Throw away the junk and let go of the clutter.
Can you think of some mental or emotional clutter hanging around your aura? Another great way to clean out the junk would be to focus on your daily thoughts and mindset. Try practicing more positive self talk or five minutes of daily meditation, even if you’re having a bad day or something doesn’t go right. It’s time to clean out the damaging comments to yourself and detox from the negative mindset that could be holding you back from accomplishing your health goals.
If you’re feeling stuck in your body or there’s a sense of stagnant “junk” or energy sitting, there are some additional ways to support your body’s natural detoxification process. Although there is no magic pill or juice cleanse that would detox you, there are healthier ways to let go of that stale energy. Movement, hydration, sweating, and even a massage are great ways to support detoxifying the body.
Letting go of something that isn’t good for you doesn’t have to be hard or complicated. Whether it is your physical, mental, or emotional space that needs to be cleared, start with just one thing and go from there. Gradually work your way towards cleaning out all of the areas in your life that need some attention.
Now that you have let go of the negativity. It’s time to invite in some new and positive habits. What is that you want to do with your life? Lose weight, improve your health, improve your relationship with food. Working with a dietitian can help! I invite you to check out my services to learn more.
